Ghana Loses Coach Carlos Queiroz After AFCON Qualifying Setback

ACCRA — Ghana’s football authorities and coach Carlos Queiroz have mutually agreed to terminate his contract, barely a month after his reappointment.

The decision followed Ghana’s 4–2 defeat to The Gambia in the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers. Ghana had taken a 2–0 lead before conceding four goals.

The Black Stars had also lost their opening qualifying match against Côte d’Ivoire and currently have no points from their first two matches.

Queiroz previously guided Ghana through the 2026 World Cup before returning for another spell in September.

Monafrika Focus:
Ghana now faces the task of finding a new coach while also trying to recover its position in the AFCON qualifying campaign.
