YAOUNDÉ, CAMEROON: Thousands of people have reportedly fled communities in Cameroon’s Far North following attacks attributed to Boko Haram.
Africanews reported that violence around Makary and Medouga forced families from more than 10 villages to seek safety in Waza. Earlier reports put the number killed in the attacks at around 14–15 people.
The latest displacement adds pressure to an area that has faced years of violence linked to Boko Haram and other armed groups.
Monafrika’s Take
The story is another reminder that insecurity in the Lake Chad region is also a humanitarian crisis. Protecting civilians and supporting displaced families must remain a major regional priority.
