Naira Holds at About ₦1,326/$ at Official Market
The naira was quoted at about ₦1,326.30 to the US dollar at the official Nigerian Foreign Exchange Market, based on the Central Bank of Nigeria’s latest published rate for September 14.
The exchange rate remains one of the biggest economic issues facing Nigerians because movements in the naira affect fuel, food, imported goods, school fees, travel, and the cost of doing business.
A more stable currency can give businesses greater certainty when planning.
However, Nigerians continue to watch the relationship between the official market and other foreign-exchange markets.
Monafrika’s Take
For the average Nigerian, the exchange rate is not just a financial statistic.
It affects what goes into the shopping basket, how much businesses pay for goods and how far salaries can go.
Currency stability therefore, remains one of the most important pieces of Nigeria’s economic story.
