Bandits Kill Farmers in Sokoto as Kano APC Chairman Is Also Killed

SOKOTO/KANO — Security concerns have again dominated headlines in northern Nigeria following separate attacks in Sokoto and Kano states.

In Sokoto State, suspected bandits reportedly killed eight farmers and injured five others during an attack on the Gandi community in Rabah Local Government Area.

In Kano State, the APC chairman of Rantan Ward in Bebeji Local Government Area, Garba Buba, and another resident were reportedly killed after gunmen invaded the community.

The incidents have renewed concerns over the security of rural communities, particularly farmers who remain vulnerable to attacks while carrying out their activities.

The attacks also raise concerns about the impact of insecurity on food production and political activities in affected communities.

Monafrika Focus:
Beyond the immediate loss of lives, continued attacks on farming communities could worsen food insecurity and discourage agricultural activity in affected areas.
