Tinubu Approves 500 More CNG Stations

President Bola Tinubu has approved the rollout of 500 additional Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) refuelling stations across Nigeria as the Federal Government intensifies efforts to reduce transportation costs.

The new stations will increase the planned national network to about 1,000 CNG stations under the government’s CNG programme.

The move is part of the administration’s broader plan to encourage the use of cheaper alternative fuels and reduce the pressure created by high petrol costs.

The Presidential Initiative on CNG and Electric Vehicles has also backed efforts by the Federal Government and state governors to lower transportation fares.

Government officials are targeting cheaper intra-state transportation, with measures expected to begin having greater impact from October.

For millions of Nigerians who depend on public transportation every day, the success of the programme could have a direct effect on household expenses and the cost of doing business.
