NFF Crisis: Emmanuel Ikpeme Takes Over as Acting General Secretary After Leadership Resignations

The crisis within the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has entered a new phase following the resignation of President Ibrahim Gusau and other members of the federation’s executive leadership.

The development has led to the appointment of NFF Deputy General Secretary, Dr Emmanuel Ikpeme, as Acting General Secretary.

Ikpeme is expected to oversee the day-to-day administration of the federation while discussions continue over the next structure of Nigerian football administration.

The NFF is also expected to hold an emergency congress in Abuja amid calls for a fresh approach to the management of the country’s football affairs.

The leadership shake-up comes at a sensitive period for Nigerian football, with the country’s national teams preparing for important international engagements.

Stakeholders will now be watching closely to see whether the current crisis leads to a normalisation process and eventually fresh elections within the federation.
