Tensions between Chad and Sudan have intensified following an air strike near their shared border that reportedly killed 12 people and injured seven others.
According to Chadian officials, the strike hit a fuel market in the border area. Chad has accused Sudan of carrying out the attack, although the circumstances surrounding the strike remain contested.
The incident adds another layer of danger to a region already heavily affected by Sudan’s prolonged conflict.
The fighting in Sudan has created major humanitarian and security pressures across neighbouring countries, with Chad hosting large numbers of people who have fled the violence.
The latest border incident could further increase concerns about the conflict spilling beyond Sudan’s borders.
