The United Kingdom has announced more than £50 million in new funding to support efforts to contain the Ebola outbreak in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
The package will support vulnerable communities, frontline health workers, disease surveillance and other emergency measures.
The new funding brings Britain’s total contribution to the Ebola response to about £78 million.
British authorities say rapid intervention is necessary to prevent the outbreak from becoming even more difficult to control.
