Sudan Crisis: More Than 200,000 Displaced as Fighting Intensifies Across Kordofan

KHARTOUM — Sudan’s humanitarian crisis is becoming increasingly severe as fighting in the Kordofan region forces large numbers of civilians from their homes.

More than 200,000 people have reportedly been newly displaced across Kordofan as clashes between the Sudanese army and the Rapid Support Forces continue.

The violence has also affected important infrastructure, making access to electricity, water, healthcare and other basic services increasingly difficult.

Aid organisations are facing major challenges in reaching affected communities. Displaced families living outside formal camps are also struggling with rising living costs and limited access to healthcare.

The crisis has continued despite efforts to reopen important humanitarian supply routes.

Kordofan has become one of the key areas in Sudan’s war, which has already created one of the world’s largest displacement and humanitarian emergencies.

Humanitarian groups are calling for greater access to affected communities and increased international support as the conflict continues.
