MINNA — Nigeria’s security situation has come under renewed attention following the abduction of more than 60 worshippers from a mosque in Niger State.
The incident happened during Friday prayers in the Borgu area, where armed men reportedly attacked communities before entering a mosque and taking worshippers away.
The Niger State government has directed security agencies to intensify efforts to locate the victims and bring them back safely.
The attack has caused fresh concern among residents in communities close to the affected area, particularly as criminal and extremist groups continue to target vulnerable communities in parts of northern Nigeria.
Security agencies are expected to increase surveillance and operations around the affected communities.
The latest incident also adds to growing calls for stronger protection of rural communities and places of worship.
Authorities have not indicated that the victims have been released at the time of this report.
