N’DJAMENA — Tensions between Chad and Sudan have increased after Chadian authorities accused Sudanese military forces of carrying out an attack inside Chadian territory.
Chad’s military said Sudanese forces used drones against a convoy operating inside Chad.
The accusation comes as Sudan’s civil war continues to spill across its borders, creating growing security concerns for neighbouring countries.
Chad has already been dealing with the effects of the Sudan conflict, including the movement of refugees and the pressure placed on border communities.
Any further cross-border military activity could increase tensions between the two countries and complicate efforts to contain the wider regional effects of Sudan’s war.
The Sudanese conflict involves the army and the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces and has continued to create serious humanitarian and security problems across the region.
