Charly Boy Reveals How He Connected Isbae U With Obasanjo for Viral Interview

Veteran entertainer and activist Charly Boy has revealed that he played a role in bringing former President Olusegun Obasanjo together with content creator Isbae U for the viral Curiosity Made Me Ask interview.

Charly Boy said he helped make the connection because he believes older Nigerians should create opportunities for younger people.

He praised Obasanjo for stepping into the world of a younger generation and participating in Isbae U’s unconventional interview style. According to him, the former president showed that people from different generations can connect when they are willing to understand each other’s world. 

The interview itself generated widespread attention, with Isbae U jokingly presenting Obasanjo as his former employee and asking him about popular Nigerian entertainment personalities. Obasanjo also turned the questions around, testing Isbae U on historical figures such as Queen Elizabeth II and King Charles III.

Obasanjo’s comments about Charly Boy

The interview also brought Charly Boy himself into the conversation.

Obasanjo explained that his perception of Charly Boy changed after seeing how he cared for his father, the late Justice Chukwudifu Oputa, and later his mother. He said the experience made him reconsider his earlier opinion of the entertainer.

Monafrika’s Take

The bigger story here goes beyond the humour of the interview.

Charly Boy’s message about opportunity is worth attention. Young Africans often need access, introductions and platforms as much as they need financial support. At the same time, established people can benefit from understanding how younger generations communicate and create content.

The Obasanjo–Isbae U conversation is an interesting example of different generations meeting on the same platform.
