BAMAKO, MALI: More than 100 Malian soldiers were reportedly killed during an attack on a military camp in central Mali earlier this month, according to sources cited by Reuters.
The attack took place on September 10. Militants linked to al-Qaeda were reported to have attacked the camp, while Mali’s military said troops were evacuated and that it carried out a retaliatory operation.
The reports underline the continuing security challenges facing Mali and the wider Sahel region.
Monafrika’s Take
