YOLA — At least 12 people were killed in a fresh attack on Nzangula village in Gombi Local Government Area of Adamawa State, according to the local government chairman.
Two people were injured and a woman was reportedly abducted during the attack.
An EYN church, three houses and two shops were also reportedly vandalised or destroyed.
The attack happened in the early hours of Monday, according to reports.
The latest incident adds to growing security concerns in parts of northeastern Nigeria, where communities continue to face threats from terrorist groups.
Residents in affected communities have repeatedly called for stronger security protection.
MONAFRIKA’S TAKE
This is not just another number.
Twelve people are twelve families. Twelve homes that have suddenly been changed forever.
The most worrying part is that rural communities continue to feel exposed despite years of military operations against terrorism.
People should not have to sleep wondering whether armed men will enter their communities before morning.
The government must go beyond reacting after an attack.
Security intelligence, early warning systems and stronger protection for vulnerable communities must become a bigger part of the strategy.
And while security agencies deserve support for the difficult work they are doing, Nigerians also deserve answers when communities remain repeatedly exposed.
