Nigeria Plans Six Medical Simulation Centres, Targets 20,000 Medical Students Yearly

Abuja, Nigeria: The Federal Government has announced plans to establish six medical simulation centres across Nigeria’s six geopolitical zones.

The centres are expected to provide modern facilities for practical medical training and help improve the quality of healthcare education.

The government also wants to increase annual admission into Nigerian medical schools to about 20,000 students within the next three years.

The move comes amid concerns over Nigeria’s shortage of medical professionals and the continued migration of doctors and other healthcare workers abroad.

Officials believe expanding medical education and improving training facilities could help strengthen Nigeria’s healthcare workforce.

The planned centres are expected to give medical students more opportunities to practise procedures in controlled training environments before working directly with patients.
