A new group of 83 Nigerians repatriated from South Africa has arrived in Lagos, amid renewed concerns over attacks and anti-foreigner sentiments in the country.
The returnees arrived at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos aboard a South African Airways flight from Johannesburg.
Their return comes as concerns grow over the treatment of Nigerians and other foreign nationals in parts of South Africa.
Nigeria and South Africa have maintained strong economic and diplomatic ties for many years. However, incidents involving xenophobia have repeatedly created tension between citizens of both countries.
The Federal Government has been involved in efforts to assist Nigerians affected by the situation.
The latest returnees add to the number of Nigerians who have returned home from South Africa amid the recent concerns.
