Bauchi Health Agency Boss, Four Children Die in Tragic Road Crash

A tragic road accident in Bauchi State has claimed the lives of Alhaji Ibrahim Ladan Duguri, Executive Secretary of the Bauchi State Health Contributory Management Agency (BASHCMA), and four of his children.

The accident reportedly occurred on Saturday evening along the Duguri road in Alkaleri Local Government Area, while the family was travelling to their village, Yalwan Duguri.

Another son, identified as Suleiman, survived the crash but sustained serious injuries and is receiving medical treatment, according to reports.

Governor Bala Mohammed Mourns

Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed, has expressed deep sadness over the deaths, describing the incident as a major loss to the state and the bereaved family.

In a condolence statement, the governor praised Duguri for his dedication to public service and his contributions to improving access to healthcare across Bauchi State.

As head of BASHCMA, Duguri played a role in advancing the state’s health contributory management system, which seeks to make healthcare more accessible, particularly to less privileged residents.

The governor also recalled Duguri’s contributions to medical services during pilgrimage exercises in Saudi Arabia.

Mohammed described the deceased official as a close personal friend and former classmate. He extended his condolences to the family, the Duguri Emirate Council, colleagues and other people affected by the tragedy.

The funeral prayers for Duguri and his four children were scheduled for Sunday, 18 October, at 11 a.m., in accordance with Islamic rites.

The cause of the crash was not stated in the reports available at the time of publication.
