2027: Tinubu, Obi, Atiku and Others Enter Campaign Season

Nigeria’s 2027 presidential campaign officially begins

Nigeria has officially entered the campaign season for the 2027 general elections, putting the country’s political scene into a new phase.

Campaigning for the presidential election began on Wednesday, August 19, with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and other major political figures preparing to take their messages to voters.

Tinubu is seeking another term in office, while opposition figures including Peter Obi and Atiku Abubakar remain among the names attracting attention ahead of the election.

The start of the campaign comes at a time when Nigerians are closely watching the economy, security, jobs and the cost of living.

The 2027 election is expected to be one of the most competitive political contests in recent years. Political parties and candidates will now have greater opportunity to present their plans to voters.

The candidates have also signed a peace agreement, promising to run issue-based campaigns and avoid violence during the election period.

For many Nigerians, however, the biggest question will be whether the candidates can provide practical answers to the country’s economic and security challenges.

The campaign season is only beginning, and political activity is expected to increase across the country in the coming months.
