Kebbi Attack Raises Fresh Concerns Over Security of Construction Workers

Suspected Lakurawa militants have reportedly killed two soldiers and a Chinese national in an attack on construction workers in the Maiyama Local Government Area of Kebbi State.

The incident has renewed concerns about the safety of workers involved in infrastructure projects, particularly in areas facing persistent security threats.

The reported attack also highlights the risks faced by security personnel assigned to protect construction sites and workers carrying out projects in vulnerable communities.

Police spokesperson SP Bashir Usman confirmed the attack and said security agencies had begun pursuing the suspected attackers. Reports also indicated that troops repelled a separate assault on a military base in the area, recovering motorcycles and weapons.

The incident adds to security concerns in north-western Nigeria, where attacks threaten local communities, construction projects and economic activity.
